Four thousand years of the same hill. Qal’at al-Bahrain is a UNESCO World Heritage Site built on seven layers of city, one on top of another, and the museum beside it explains what you are standing on.
After the fort and the excavated harbour, we drive along the north coast to Barbar Temple, three temples stacked around a sacred spring, and stop for coffee before taking you back.
The Site Museum is closed on Monday. The fort grounds stay open and free, so ask us about the Monday version at a lower price.
